Short version

Sound Ceramics is donating 20% of all sales from July 1 - December 31, 2022 to reproductive justice organizations.

Long version

Personally, I’ve been talking about the death of Roe v. Wade since 2014. In between now and then, I’ve donated, I’ve marched, and I’ve educated. I think the unfortunate shared experience/feeling here is that I feel, we all feel, the “I am just one person,” sorrow, knowing that we as individuals cannot do much to change the state of the world. I do, however, believe that if we build coalitions and act as a collective, we can change so much.

Reese and I have spent the last two weeks thinking about how we can participate in the fight in a sustainable, long-term way and have decided that from July 1 - December 31, 2022 we will donate 20% of all of our sales to two different organizations - 10% to Spark Reproductive Justice and 10% to a regional abortion fund (we will pick a new one each month from National Network of Abortion Funds list). We’ll post updates as we donate to these organizations.

It’s been amazing seeing other small businesses take action in all sorts of ways. Some are making specific collections of reproductive health themed products, which are great to see and I’ve bought some myself. But as we both work full-time jobs in addition to running Sound Ceramics, we don’t have the time to pivot our work in the same way. So no matter what product(s) you purchase from us, each order will support the fight for abortion rights, reproductive justice, and bodily autonomy.

We don’t have a huge following (yet) but I’m sure of the followers we do have, this might bother some. And to those of you that might not like this move, I say this - abortion is healthcare and bodily autonomy is a human right. If you disagree, you’re welcome to unfollow us and take your money elsewhere, but this is not up for debate.

If you’re still standing with us, thank you so much for your support and partnership!
